Arches club reinstates age limit after Regane MacColl death
A night club has reinstated its minimum age for admission to 18 after raising it to 21 following the suspected drug-related death of a teenage girl.
The Arches in Glasgow said its over 18s policy would start on 3 May.
An over 21s policy was introduced following the death of Regane MacColl, who fell ill at the club on 1 February.
The 17-year-old, from Duntocher, West Dunbartonshire, died in hospital. Police linked her death to an ecstasy-like "Mortal Kombat" tablet.
Announcing its policy change, the Glasgow venue said: "The Arches is reinstating its over 18s clubs policy from Saturday 3rd May, 2014, with valid ID required for entry.
"We are working closely with Police Scotland in adopting many operational recommendations which we believe will provide a safer clubbing environment.
"The Arches operates a strict zero-tolerance drugs policy and is committed to protecting the health and safety of its customers, whom we urge to act responsibly at all times."
