Man, 54, critically injured by car in Glasgow

A 54-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Glasgow.

He was hit by a purple Peugeot 107 in Balmoral Street, at Dumbarton Road near the Scotstounhill area, at about 13:10 on Sunday.

The man suffered serious head injuries in the incident and is being treated at the city's Southern General Hospital.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time to contact them.

Police Constable John O'Hara, of Police Scotland, said: "I know the area was busy at the time and there are a number of drivers and pedestrians who may have witnessed the accident.

"I would like anyone who saw anything at all to contact me as every little detail helps us build a complete picture of what happened."
