Eric Noubayo faces trial over Games pass theft

A man from London is to stand trial accused of stealing a Commonwealth Games accreditation pass.

Eric Noubayo, 36, allegedly took the pass belonging to Romeo Djoumessi, from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on 29 July.

It is claimed he then tried to access the athlete's village by pretending to be the Cameroonian wrestler.

At Glasgow Sheriff Court, Mr Noubayo pleaded not guilty and was released on bail pending trial in September.

Procurator fiscal depute Stuart Fauri told the court that Mr Noubayo is a coach and requested special bail conditions be put in place which Sheriff Andrew Cubie granted.

Mr Noubayo was released on bail with the conditions he does not enter or attempt to enter the SECC or the athlete's village.
