Two attackers force way into victim's Kirkintilloch home

Police have launched an investigation after two men assaulted a 20-year-old man in East Dunbartonshire after forcing their way into his home.

The attack took place at the victim's house in Redbrae Road, Kirkintilloch, at about 03:00 on Sunday.

He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and later released.

Police said the motive for the attack was "unclear" and are conducting door-to-door inquiries and studying CCTV images to find the men responsible.

'Serious injury'

A Black Nissan 4x4 vehicle was seen in the area around the time of the assault and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle, either in Redbrae Road or nearby, between 02:00 and 03:00 on Sunday.

Det Sgt David MacGregor, of Police Scotland, said: "The victim of this assault sustained a serious injury requiring hospital treatment as a result of this attack.

"We are keen to trace any witnesses who may have seen two men acting suspiciously in or around Redbrae Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"In particular we are looking for information about the driver or occupants of a Black Nissan 4x4 vehicle seen nearby at the time."
