Woman, 86, dies after being hit by car in East Kilbride

An 86-year-old woman who was hit by a car in South Lanarkshire last week has died in hospital.

The pedestrian was struck by a Fiat 500 car on Murray Road, near its junction with Murrayhill, in East Kilbride, at about 08:00 on 29 October.

She had been in a critical condition at the town's Hairmyres Hospital.

The 20-year-old car driver was not injured but said to have been "badly shaken" as a result of the crash. Police have appealed for witnesses.
