Arrest over 'hit and run' death of 11-year-old Sophie Brannan in Glasgow
A man has been arrested in connection with the "hit and run" death of an 11-year-old girl who was knocked down by a car in Glasgow.
Sophie Brannan, from Maryhill, died after being struck by a black Vauxhall Astra which mounted the pavement in Sandbank Street on Friday night.
Her friend Chelsea Sommerville, aged 10, and Chelsea's 36-year-old uncle, Joseph Lloyd, were also hurt.
Police said a 32-year-old man had been detained.
He is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Detectives had previously said the car involved in the incident, which was later found abandoned in Lochburn Street, had been hired.
A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
