Body find in water near Ardrossan harbour 'unexplained'

Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found in the water near Ardrossan harbour as unexplained.

Emergency services were called to the North Ayrshire town at 12:20 following reports of a body in the water.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said the man's body was recovered by the coastguard at about 13:30.

She said that formal identification had still to take place and a post-mortem examination would be held in due course to establish how the man died.
