George Smith to stand trial over Steven Larkin murder

A man is to stand trial charged with the murder of a man who was found dead in a close of flats in Glasgow.

George Smith, 54, is charged with killing 45-year-old Steven Larkin in the Castlemilk area on 7 December 2014.

He is alleged to have punched, kicked and stamped on Mr Larkin at a flat in Stravanan Road, dragged him outside and compressed his neck.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Mr Smith pleaded not guilty. Judge Lord Turnbull set a trial due to start in October.
