CCTV images of missing 79-year old Thomas Lamb released
CCTV images have been released of a 79-year-old man who went missing shortly after his wife died.
Police are appealing for help to trace Thomas Lamb, who left his home in Almond Road, in the Abronhill area of Cumbernauld, at about 11:00 on Saturday.
He was reported missing after failing to return home that night.
His son has described him as a "homebody" who was grieving for his wife.
Mr Lamb had been given a lift into the town centre just before 18:00 and was seen talking to someone outside the Carrickstone Bar.
He then walked through the shopping centre to the old bus station.
'Very much a homebody'
The pensioner was seen boarding a Stagecoach X25 bus in Cumbernauld town centre at about 18:10 before getting off on Moss Road, near Oak Road, at 18:23.
There was also a further possible sighting of Mr Lamb walking along the track at Lime Crescent, towards Forrest Road in Abronhill, at about 18:30.
Mr Lamb's son Stephen Lamb, 45, said: "Dad is very much a homebody who loves spending time with his family. He is elderly and frail and has been very upset since the passing of my mum.
"This is the first time he has ever disappeared for one night, let alone two, and we are all very concerned about him."
He added: "Dad has lived in the community for over 40 years and has a daily routine of walking up to Abronhill town centre for his paper.
"He is well-known locally and I would ask anyone who may have seen him in the area to please contact police."
Mr Lamb is about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and has grey hair. He is said to walk quite slowly.
He is thought to have been wearing a black anorak, a multi-coloured jumper with a shirt underneath, and blue trousers.
Insp Philip Maguire, from Police Scotland, said: "Mr Lamb has now been missing for more than two days without making any contact with his family which is completely out of character.
"He lost his wife very recently and is understandably very upset. His family are all very concerned about his well-being and just want to know he is ok.
"Officers have been carrying out extensive inquiries in the Cumbernauld area and have also visited several public houses in Glasgow City Centre, which Mr Lamb has been known to spend time in. However, all attempts to locate him so far have been unsuccessful.
"I would appeal to everyone to look at Mr Lamb's picture and if you think you may have seen him please get in touch."
