James Clark jailed over rape of 12-year-old in Irvine

A man who raped a 12-year-old girl just hours after he sexually assaulted a woman has been jailed.

James Clark, 25, was sentenced to a prison term of six years and four months.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lady Scott said she had no other option but to send him to prison.

Clark, of Irvine, Ayrshire, admitted both offences at the High Court in Glasgow last month. He was also placed on the sex offenders register.

The court heard that he was intoxicated and had taken diazepam when he committed the offences in Irvine on 14 April last year.
