Man in court over fatal stabbing in Paisley

A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a father of three by stabbing him to death in the street.

James Wright, 24, is accused of killing Craig McClelland in Tweed Avenue in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on 23 July by stabbing him in the stomach and chest.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded into custody following a short hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew continued the case for prosecutors to investigate further.

Mr McClelland, 31, died in hospital after being found badly injured in the street.
