A newsagents shop in Lanarkshire has been raided and a member of staff threatened with knives.

The robbery at RS McColl in Hamilton Street, Carluke, took place at about 07:20 on Sunday.

The two men involved in the incident were said by police to have escaped with a "four-figure sum" of cash and a quantity of tobacco.

The female shop worker threatened by the men was unhurt but was left "extremely shaken".
