Police custody man taken unwell and dies

A man died in hospital after becoming unwell while in police custody.

Gerard McNally, who was 48, was being questioned at Burnett Road police station in Inverness on Friday.

Northern Constabulary said he was taken by ambulance to the city's Raigmore Hospital after becoming unwell, but died a short time later.

The force said there would be a full inquiry into the circumstances of the death and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
