Damage to Nether Lochaber slipway worse than thought

The state of a slipway for a ferry serving communities in the west Highlands is worse than previously thought, Highland Council has said.

Contractors working on a major refurbish of the slipway at Nether Lochaber have found significant damage to concrete and piling.

The powerful propulsion of the Corran Ferry was previously identified as a factor in causing erosion at the site.

A floating pier is being used to serve the car ferry during the repairs.

The vessel operates on Loch Linnhe.

It crosses between Nether Lochaber on the loch's eastern shores and Ardgour on the west side.
