Fresh snow and ice closes Highlands and Islands schools

Almost 50 schools in the Highlands and Islands have been affected by fresh snowfalls and subzero temperatures.
In the Highlands, 46 schools have shut or been partially closed. Eoligarry School on the Western Isles has shut.
Police said roads continued to be affected by snow showers and freezing temperatures.
On Skye, the B885 Struan Hill road between Struan and Portree and the unclassified Staffin to Uig road were closed.
Driving conditions on routes in Caithness and Sutherland have also been difficult.
On the railways ScotRail said that snow disruption was continuing to hit services north and west of Inverness.
It has warned of cancellations and delays on the Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh and Lairg to Wick lines.
In Caithness, the Dounreay nuclear power site was shut last Friday to all but essential personnel.
Data from plant's weather station was launched online the previous day.
