Highlanders recognised in New Year Honours

A tourism chief and public sector worker have been among people from the Highlands and Islands recognised in the New Year Honours.
Nicol Manson, chairman of Highlands and Loch Ness Marketing Group, and Viscountess Margaret Thurso have been appointed an OBE.
Those made an MBE include Elizabeth Bow for her community work in Nairn and NHS Highland manager Gillian McVicar.
Lewis man Alasdair Nicholson has been honoured for his voluntary work.
Others made an MBE were John MacKay for services to Royal Mail and to the community in Sutherland, Inverness College's Elizabeth Barron while Loch Eil Outward Bound Centre boss Anthony Shepherd has been recognised with an MVO.
