An eight-year-old girl, described as "popular and caring", has died suddenly after taking ill at school.
Chloe McCowatt, from Springfield Gardens, Inverness, became unwell at Central Primary School on Tuesday and was taken home by her mother.
However, her condition deteriorated and she was taken to Raigmore Hospital where she died later that day.
A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said officers were making inquiries but there were no suspicious circumstances.
In a statement, Chloe's family said: "Chloe was a popular, thoughtful and caring daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin.
"She had a bond with not only her family, but her friends and everyone else who knew her. Her family will never get over her sudden, tragic and devastating loss."
