A82 to shut in December for rocks removal

A date has been set for the temporary closure of part of the A82 in the Highlands so that tonnes of unsafe rock can be removed.

Forestry Commission Scotland and Transport Scotland said the closure and work was scheduled for 9-12 December.

Engineers have warned that up to 250 tonnes of rock on a hillside poses a safety risk.

The closure would affect the stretch of road close to Corran Ferry, south of Fort William.

Updates on the proposed closure are being posted on a website and on Twitter.

The forestry commission said the road closure would run from 22:00 on 9 December to 06:00 on 12 December.
