Lifeboat goes to aid of cyclist on Knoydart Peninsula

A lifeboat crew went to the aid of a cyclist who was injured in one of the remotest parts of the Highlands.

The cyclist, who was thought to have a head injury, was picked up from Inverie on the Knoydart Peninsula by the boat sent from Mallaig.

Inverie can be reached only by walking 18 miles or making a seven-mile sea crossing by ferry.

Stornoway Coastguard said the Mallaig RNLI crew was alerted at about 08:55 and had completed the callout.
