A mechanic has admitted having sex with girls aged between 13 and 15, the High Court in Edinburgh has heard.

Stuart Smith, 21, of Alness, in Easter Ross, was 17 when the offences began in 2007 and 19 when he met the last girl in 2010.

He has admitted four charges of unlawful sexual intercourse.

Smith contacted two of the teenagers through social network website Bebo, another girl through one of her friends and met one at a bus stop.

First offender Smith was allowed to remain on bail pending sentence after judge Lord Turnbulll called for background reports.

Advocate depute Alastair Carmichael said the offences came to light as the result of police investigations into another matter.

The girls involved had not gone to the police.

Pregnancy claim

The court heard that a 14-year-old girl received a message on Bebo from Smith asking for her mobile phone number and they agreed to meet at a show ground in Invergordon.

They had a four-month relationship in 2007 when Smith was 17.

The pair split up following a row when the girl accused Smith of making her pregnant. She also claimed that she had found pictures of other girls on his mobile phone.

Another girl met Smith through a friend when she was 15 and he was 18.

Mr Carmichael said they chatted and watched DVDs before going to a bedroom to have sex.

Another girl was 13 when Smith met her at a bus stop near his home after a party and they went back to his house in June 2010.

Smith and the girl swapped photographs and exchanged text messages before arranging a meeting in July the same year.
