Childare staff alerted police to Highland drink-driver

A woman was found to be two-and-a-half times over the drink-drive limit after collecting a youngster from childcare, Inverness Sheriff Court has heard.

Fiona Mathieson, 42, admitted drink-driving in Drumnadrochit, the village where she lives, in August.

The court heard that concerned childcare staff alerted police.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson banned Mathieson from driving for 18 months, reduced from 20 months because of her early guilty plea, and fined her £800.

The sheriff also allowed Mathieson the opportunity to do a drink-drive rehabilitation course which, if she successfully completes it, would give her a discount of four months on the disqualification period.
