Children among five hurt in crash in Easter Ross

Two children were among five people treated for injuries following a crash on the A9 near Evanton in Easter Ross.

The children, and a woman driving the car they were in, were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by ambulance.

Police said the female passenger of one of the two cars involved had serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.

The other driver, a woman, was also taken to Raigmore by ambulance.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Skiach at about 10.30.

Police were investigating the cause of the crash.

Firefighters cut the roof off one of the cars to reach one of the injured women.

The A96 at Auldearn, near Nairn, was also partially closed after a lorry jacknifed at about 10.53.
