Police warn of emergency services magazine telephone scam

Northern Constabulary are warning businesses to watch out for a telephone scam which is currently operating in the Caithness area.

A male, purporting to be from the force and using the name PC Morrison, has been contacting local businesses

He asks them to pay for advertising space in an emergency services magazine and ask for bank details.

Police have asked anyone who receives such a call to contact them.

The caller gets very aggressive and abusive if firms decline his offer.

There are legitimate companies which offer this service, but bona-fide companies usually never ask for cash in advance.

The police have advised that any company asking for cash up front should be avoided.
