Body found in search for missing Edderton girl Moyra As-Chainey

Police in the Highlands searching for missing 16-year-old schoolgirl Moyra As-Chainey have found a body.

The Tain Royal Academy pupil has been missing since Wednesday morning. Officers had urged her to make contact.

The body was discovered in woods near the teenager's home in Edderton, Easter Ross. It has not been confirmed if there are any suspicious circumstances.

No formal identification has taken place but the search has been stood down.

A police family liaison officer has also been appointed to support the family.

A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

More than 50 people, an RAF helicopter and search dogs have been involved in efforts to trace Moyra.

Concern for the safety of the teenager, who has been described as "vulnerable", has been growing.
