Two seriously injured in A9 crash south of Aviemore

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash between a lorry and a car on the A9 in the Highlands.

The accident happened about seven miles south of Aviemore at about 14:25. Fire crews cut one person free from the car.

The casualty was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries. Another occupant with serious injuries was taken to hospital by road.

The road was closed for about five hours to allow accident investigations to take place.

Witnesses said the lorry had overturned and was hanging over an embankment.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
