Fire tackled at Nigg Energy Park

An exclusion zone has been placed around an energy park after a fire in a gas storage facility.

The incident happened at the Nigg Energy Park, which is on the Cromarty Firth in Ross-Shire.

The blaze was extinguished, but fire service personnel were still working to cool down cylinders.

The exclusion zone was enforced just before 21:00 on Saturday night, and was expected to remain in force through Sunday morning.

The plant was purchased in October last year by Global Energy Group and rebranded as Nigg Energy Park.
