Inverness pub and restaurants plan refused

Plans for a development containing restaurants, a pub, drive-through fast food shops and a car sales centre have been refused permission in principle.

Inverness Estates' proposal is for a site off Highlander Way, near Inverness Retail and Business Park.

The consortium had appealed against Highland Council's decision to refuse planning permission.

A Scottish government-appointed planning official has dismissed the appeal and refused permission.

The reporter said the development was likely to create jobs. Among the reasons for throwing out the appeal was that the project did not fit with Highland Council's development plan.
