An extensive fire has broken out at the edge of the Lews Castle grounds in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

Five fire engines and 30 crew have been tackling the blaze, which spread over moorland destroying trees.

Work to bring it under control has been hampered by a strong north easterly wind.

Firefighters have been trying to create fire breaks with water pumped from the main road, which is three quarters of a mile away.
