Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service (HIFRS) said the fire was now under control.

A spokeswoman confirmed the blaze broke out at an industrial unit.

She added that firefighters were expected to remain on the scene for some time dampening down hot spots.

At the height of the blaze thick black smoke could be seen rising from the scene.

Police said no-one was injured and the fire was not thought to have been started deliberately.

However, Northern Constabulary warned that Cromwell Road and also Lotland Street, between the junction of Cromwell Road and Henderson Road, would be closed until at least 18:00.
