Tributes paid to Western Isles crash victim Karin Prior

Tributes have been paid to a woman who died after a two-car crash on Lewis on Monday afternoon.

NHS Western Isles said Karin Prior's death had saddened and shocked her colleagues at the health board.

A colleague of the occupational therapist was also involved in the crash on the A857 between Stornoway and Barvas.

A fire in one of the vehicles was put out by firefighters. Two people injured in the crash were taken to hospital.

A 20-year-old woman remains in Western Isles Hospital, while a man, 31, was transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment.

The chief executive of NHS Western Isles, Gordon Jamieson, paid tribute to 50-year-old Ms Prior, who was a passenger in one of the cars.

He said: "All staff were deeply saddened and shocked about the sudden and tragic loss of a colleague and friend.

"We would like to extend our condolences and sympathy to Karin's friends and family at this very sad time."
