Man hurt in Wick Harbour boat plunge

A workman has suffered multiple injuries after plunging about 30ft into the hold of a vessel docked at a Highland harbour.

Northern Constabulary said the fall happened at about 18:30 in Wick on Monday.

The man sustained broken bones but police said his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

It has been reported the workman was involved in unloading parts for wind turbines when the accident happened.

A police spokesman said: "The Health and Safety Executive have also been involved in the inquiry and at this time investigations are still ongoing."
