Compensate comhairle for school legal fight, says MSP
The Scottish government should compensate Comhairle nan Eilean Siar following a legal battle over school closures, MSP Rhoda Grant has said.
The government challenged the Western Isles local authority's plan to shut schools.
Last month, a court judgement allowed the comhairle to proceed with the closures of Carloway Primary and end S1 and 2 provision at Shawbost.
First Minister Alex Salmond said the government had acted in good faith.
Ms Grant said the comhairle should be compensated for the funds it spent on legal fees fighting the government's opposition to the closures.
