Community bid for Dornoch Sheriff Court

A community group plans to buy Dornoch Sheriff Court.

The building is among a number across Scotland being closed down as part of efforts by the Scottish Court Service to save up to £4m a year.

Business dealt with at Dornoch in Sutherland will be transferred to Tain Sheriff Court.

Dornoch Area Interest Company has registered a right to buy the courthouse. The building could be used as a tourist information centre.

It has also been suggested as a venue for weddings.
