Horse manure 'dumped illegally' near Cromarty Firth

  • Published

Horse manure has been dumped illegally close to the shore of a Highland firth, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has said.

A trailer load of manure and other waste was found at the Cromarty Firth.

Sepa said it was alerted to the waste following a complaint a member of the public made to Highland Council.

The agency said horse manure had to be disposed of in a place where it could not pollute watercourses. Usually it is used as an agricultural fertiliser.
