Gaelic TV presenter starts New York-Stornoway row
Gaelic TV and radio presenter Niall Iain Macdonald has set off on the start of his attempt to row solo from New York to Stornoway.
Dubbed NY2SY, the crossing of the North Atlantic from the US east coast to Lewis will raise money for the Scottish Association of Mental Health.
Mr Macdonald, 39, expects the journey to take him at least three months to complete.
On the way, he could encounter icebergs and hurricane-force winds.
In 2008, the broadcaster rowed from Lewis, across the Minch, to Ullapool on the Scottish mainland.
