Flu continues to affect Ward 7C at Raigmore Hospital

A ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness remains closed to new admissions because of flu.

Eleven patients in Ward 7C have the illness.

NHS Highland has asked that people who have flu, or live with someone with the illness, not to visit the hospital.

The advice comes as the Scottish government urges people to get vaccinated after a rise in the number of flu patients taken seriously ill.

Over the past four weeks, 26 people have been admitted to intensive care as a result of flu, compared to five people over the same period last year.

Most of the patients have underlying health conditions.

The government said almost half of those eligible for vaccinations due to such conditions are yet to receive them.
