Up to 90 jobs could go at a Highland firm which supplies equipment to the oil and gas industry.

Global Energy Group's Ross-shire-based company Isleburn said redundancies were likely because of the current downturn in the oil and gas marketplace.

Isleburn has offices at Evanton on the Cromarty Firth and also in Aberdeen. The firm employs 600 people across Scotland.

It manufactures bespoke equipment for subsea projects.

In a statement, Isleburn said it was no different from many other companies working in the oil and gas sector and was suffering from a downturn in businesses.

After a thorough review of its current order book and its workforce's skill sets, it said it had been left with no choice but to advise staff of the potential cuts.

A spokesman said the firm would continue to work hard in trying to find and secure further work to supplement its existing order book and hoped the situation might improve during the coming weeks.
