Gaelic body's interim chief does not speak language

The Gaelic development board, Bord na Gaidhlig, has appointed an interim chief executive who does not speak the language.

Joe Moore is director of corporate services at Scottish Natural Heritage.

The appointment follows Iain Campbell's resignation last month after just three months in the top job at Inverness-based Bord na Gaidhlig.

In a statement at the time, the organisation said Mr Campbell had stood down for personal reasons.

It did not commented on reports that there had been tensions within its management team.

Bord na Gaidhlig works to promote Gaelic in partnership with the Scottish government and other Gaelic organisations.
