Man arrested after yacht ran aground near Fort William

A man has been arrested in connection with a yacht running aground on the shores of Loch Linnhe near Fort William.

Police were alerted to the boat at about 07:55 on Wednesday and RNLI Oban's lifeboat was launched minutes later to assist officers.

A 26-year-old man, the sole occupant of the yacht, was helped ashore.

Police Scotland said the man had since been arrested and would be reported to the procurator fiscal.

Coastguard personnel also assisted with the incident.

Police Scotland said the yacht was damaged.
