Police appeal after man approached boy and girl in Tain

Police want to trace a man who approached and spoke to two young children as they played outside a house in Tain in Easter Ross.

The incident involving a six-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl happened in Mansfield Estate at about 16:00 on Tuesday.

The man is described as being aged 40 to 45, with short fair or grey hair, facial stubble and of a slim build.

He wore a blue hooded top and black tracksuit trousers with white stripes.

The man was driving a black car.

Insp Anna Johnston, of Police Scotland, said: "The children were not injured and at this time there is nothing to suggest that anything untoward has happened.

"However, we would like to trace the man involved to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.

"If you were in the area at the time and saw anything which could assist with our inquiry, I would urge you to get in touch.

"Likewise, if you recognise yourself as the man described I would ask that you make contact with us."
