A man has died after his dinghy overturned in the Cromarty Firth.
Seven crew members from the Invergordon lifeboat responded to reports of a person in the water near Rosskeen at about 16:45 on Monday.
Due to low water, some of the RNLI volunteers swam to the casualty and brought him ashore and he was airlifted to hospital by a coastguard helicopter.
Police Scotland said the 56-year-old man had died at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Insp Jamie Wilson said: "Our enquiries are at an early stage.
"However, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.
"Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time."
