Man airlifted to hospital after crash south of Wick

A man has been airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after a crash on the A99 in Caithness.

His car left the road between Wick and Latheron at Thrumster, three miles south of Wick, at about 11:00.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said the man, who is in his 40s, was first taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick by ambulance.

He was later transferred to Aberdeen by a helicopter.
