Union members at Dounreay balloted on strike

Members of the GMB, Unite and Prospect unions at the Dounreay former nuclear power site near Thurso could take strike action next month.

The workers have been issued with ballot papers in a dispute over pay.

Earlier this month, they rejected an offer of a 1.75% increase in pay from the nuclear site's owners Cavendish Nuclear.

The company has said it is disappointed that the unions were balloting their members.

The ballot closes on 22 December, with action likely to take place on 15 January.
