Fisherman escapes after creel boat hit rocks

A fisherman was forced to abandon his creel boat off Gairloch harbour in Wester Ross when it hit rocks on Monday afternoon.

The man managed to send a distress call from the 7.3m (24ft) vessel Adelphi before managing to scramble ashore.

Stornoway Coastguard helicopter and Skye's Portree lifeboat were sent to the scene.

Efforts were made to refloat the fishing boat, but it was damaged and sank.
