Police appeal after hit and run in Aberdeen

Police are looking for two people involved in a hit and run in Aberdeen which injured a 12-year-old boy.

The boy was struck by a silver Vauxhall Vectra as he tried to cross King Street near the Pittodrie Bar at 1445 BST.

The car was found abandoned by police less than 15 minutes later on Golf Road. The boy was treated in hospital for cuts, bruises and shock.

Grampian Police said the male driver and a woman were seen running from the car towards School Road.

'Thankfully escaped'

The man was described as around 5ft 6in tall, aged in his 30s, with short, close-cropped brown hair. The woman was said to be about 5ft 6in tall, with shoulder length light-coloured hair.

Pc Chris Bruce said: "This was an incident which could easily have had tragic consquences.

"The boy thankfully escaped with only cuts, bruises and shock.

"Anyone who saw these people - or anything suspicious - in the Golf Road or School Road areas or who saw the accident should pick up the phone and call us."
