Female car driver badly injured in accident with van

A woman was seriously hurt when her car was involved in a collision with a van in Aberdeenshire.

The 39-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after the accident on the A975 Newburgh to Cruden Bay road at about 1840 BST on Monday.

The van driver, a 33-year-old man, was unhurt.

The road was closed for several hours to allow a collision investigation. Grampian Police appealed for witnesses to contact them.
