Controversial plans for a homeless hostel in Aberdeen have been abandoned.

Aberdeen City Council has decided to drop the idea of creating the temporary homeless accommodation at Aberdon House in Tillydrone.

It comes just a week after two of the authority's departments went to court in dispute over the scheme.

More than 130 people objected to the hostel and were cited to appear as witnesses. The council said it would instead pursue other options.

Officials will focus on homelessness prevention, private sector accommodation and turning the former St Fittick's hostel in Torry into accommodation.
