Aberdeen vandal fire 'could have cost lives'

A fire started by vandals in Aberdeen could have cost lives, police have said.

The front door of a university building on Elphinstone Road was set alight at about 2030 BST on Monday.

Grampian Fire and Rescue Service were called out and extinguished the blaze, which caused considerable damage.

PC Kenny Scott, of Grampian Police, said: "This was a senseless and dangerous act of wilful fire raising which could have endangered life."
