A 21-year-old woman died when the car she was a passenger in hit a house in Aberdeenshire.

The accident happened on the A937 Laurencekirk to Montrose road at 1330 BST.

Grampian Police said the collision involved a black Vauxhall Corsa driven by an 18-year-old woman who suffered minor injuries.

She was treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but her passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The house, which was unoccupied at the time of the collision, suffered some structural damage.
