Double-decker buses have been taken off an Aberdeenshire route just days after school children were injured in a crash.

The double-decker, carrying more than 30 pupils from Mearns Academy, crashed at Garvock Hill near Laurencekirk on Friday afternoon.

Six pupils were taken to hospital, and 13 were treated for minor injuries.

Aberdeenshire Council and operators Stagecoach have agreed to remove the buses from the route. Some parents had already expressed concerns.

Grampian Police said the crash could "potentially have been a serious incident".

Heavy rain and wind were believed to have been a factor in the incident.

The pupils were boys and girls aged between 12 and 17.

The council said all seats on the bus were fitted with seatbelts.
